Couples Therapy
Online couples counseling in California for determined couples seeking to improve communication, resolve conflict, and grow closer in marriage.
This isn’t the marriage you signed up for.
And you're not alone. Most couples struggle to stay connected under the weight of stress, kids, careers, and unmet expectations.
Maybe things are generally okay, but you feel disconnected, exhausted, and misaligned. The stress, misunderstandings, and constant pressure of daily life have dulled the connection you once had. You love each other—but something’s not working.
Or maybe it’s worse than that. Maybe the foundation of your marriage feels like it’s crumbling beneath you—after countless disappointments, secrecy, or emotional shutdown. You’re gridlocked in silence and avoidance or trapped in a cycle of arguments you’re so sick of having. You’re not sure how you got here, and you’re not sure if you want to stay.
Whether your relationship feels tense or completely shattered, therapy can help you rebuild it—honestly, intentionally, and with new tools.
You Can Have the Marriage You Want. I’ll Help You Create It.
A healthy marriage isn’t automatic. Most of us never learned how to communicate well, resolve conflict, or honor boundaries. We tend to repeat what we saw growing up—whether it worked or not.
That’s why I combine two powerful, research-based approaches in my work with couples:
Gottman Method Couples Therapy helps you understand your patterns, reduce negativity, and build emotional safety through structure and science.
Relational Life Therapy (RLT) goes deeper to challenge the ego, unpack entitlement and resentment, and create lasting change through honesty and accountability.
We’ll work together to help you reconnect—not just emotionally, but with shared values, better boundaries, and healthier ways of showing up for each other.
How Couples Therapy Helps:
Identify and build on what’s already working
Reconnect through small, daily moments of appreciation
Shift from reactive to responsive communication
Resolve conflict with more clarity and less escalation
Create a shared vision for meaning and purpose in your marriage
Your Couples Therapy Journey
-
Assessment & Individual Sessions
We start with a joint session to explore your relationship history and key stressors.
Each partner completes the Gottman Relationship Checkup (a research-based questionnaire).
Then, we meet one-on-one to hear each of your perspectives in a private space.
What to expect:
We uncover patterns, pain points, and strengths that shape your relationship today.
-
Feedback & Strategy Session
I review your Relationship Checkup results and highlight areas of strength and strain.
We walk through the Sound Relationship House model from the Gottman Method.
We set goals based on what matters most to you both.
What to expect:
We create a roadmap for change, grounded in both data and your lived experience.
-
Skills, Insight & Challenge (Gottman + RLT)
We practice new tools for communication, repair, and connection.
We address deeper dynamics using Relational Life Therapy, like power struggles, boundary breakdowns, or family-of-origin patterns.
Sessions include direct feedback, role-play, and coaching through real conflict.
What to expect:
I’ll challenge you to speak truth, take responsibility, and show up with courage.
-
Progress Check-Ins
Every 8–12 sessions, we pause to reflect: what’s working? What’s shifting?
We revisit your goals, recalibrate if needed, and talk about next steps—whether that’s maintenance, tapering, or deeper work.
What to expect:
This is about sustaining change, not just surviving crisis. You'll leave therapy with practical tools and a stronger foundation.
Whether you're stuck in the same arguments, struggling to be heard, or just feeling emotionally out of sync, couples therapy can help you reconnect and communicate with more clarity and care.
You don’t have to keep spinning your wheels. Let’s build a marriage that works better—for both of you.
